The first of 12 new homes being built at Cherbourg to help alleviate over-crowding welcomed its new family at the weekend.
The completion of the four-bedroom house marks the first milestone in a project by the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council designed to reduce the town’s overcrowded living.
A second home is expected to be completed in a fortnight.
Council construction manager Darren Purcell said his had team worked hard to produce quality buildings in partnership with Sellwood Construction and the State Government’s Department of Communities.
“Having people rent these houses will provide a healthier, happier lifestyle for all the families involved,” he said.
