The Wondai Art Gallery will be featuring the best of local students’ artwork with the opening next Friday night (August 3) of the biennial South Burnett High School Students Art Competition, sponsored by Stanwell Corporation.

Students from Murgon and Kingaroy State High Schools and St Mary’s Catholic College will have works on show.

The works – which include paintings, pottery and sculpture – will be displayed throughout the main galleries while children from Proston State School will have works in Kidz Korner.

Competition judge will be local artist Cherry Carroll who will select winners in 2D and 3D categories in the Junior (Year 8-10), Senior (Year 11-12) and Interpretative Aboriginal Art sections.

The opening evening will start at 6:00pm, and entry is free. The winners of the competition will be announced during the night.

Wine tasting and sales will be provided by Captains Paddock. There’ll also be punch, finger food and live music.

All works will remain on display in the gallery throughout August.
