South Burnett community groups have received more than $269,000 in Community Benefit grants announced today by the State Government.

The grants came from the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund (JCBF), which uses a percentage of State revenue raised from gaming activities in casinos to offer grants of up to $150,000, and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF), which uses taxes from Golden Casket lotteries, bets, keno and poker machines  to pay out grants of up to $35,000.

South Burnett recipients of grants under Round 77 of the Jupiter’s Casino Community Benefit Fund:

  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Multi Media and Resource Association Inc – $39,090.91, to purchase motor vehicle
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $45,500, to install security fence
  • Freshwater Fishing and Stocking Assoc of Qld (Nanango) – $989, for computer upgrades
  • Queensland Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association (South Burnett Branch) – $45,000, towards purchase of bus
  • Queensland Rural Women’s Network – $10,000 towards conference September 2012

South Burnett recipients of grants under Round 72 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund:

  • Barambah Garden Club Inc – $1896.89, to purchase a laptop and catering equipment
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $14,916.21, to purchase and install 5kW solar system at Cherbourg Fruit Shop
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $14,916.21, install 5kW solar system at Cherbourg Joinery
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $14,916.21, to purchase and install 5kW solar system at Cherbourg Garage
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $5623.36, solar sport and community group grant for Old Council Chambers
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $5623.36, solar sport and community group grant for Cherbourg CDEP Hub
  • Kingaroy Amateur Basketball Association Inc – $9250, to purchase electronic scoreboards
  • Murgon Lions Club Inc, $29,943.58, to upgrade facility
  • Yarraman State School P&C, $31,818.18, to purchase playground equipment
