Greg Kroll and Ralph Beddows at Vale View, one of the studs that the 2012 South Burnett Bull Tour will be visiting

June 28, 2012

Cattle studs aren’t usually the highlight of a weekend out touring in the country … but for this load of travellers, cattle studs will be all that they’ll be wanting to see when their coach cruises around the South Burnett next month.

The South Burnett Bull Tour was first run in 2010 to give cattle breeders an insight into breeding programs at some of the local Droughtmaster studs.

This year’s run will visit studs at Blackbutt, Nanango, Manumbar, Cloyna and Windera as it winds its way through the South Burnett over two days.

On Saturday, July 21, the bus will leave Murgon at 5:50am and Nanango at 6:50am to travel to ‘Bindanoon’ at Blackbutt for a barbecue breakfast, then on to the picturesque ‘Truvalle’ stud located at ‘The Valley’ near Blackbutt for smoko.

It will then head back to Nanango for lunch at ‘Rocky View’ and to view cattle from ‘Boonenne’.   From here, it will travel towards Manumbar to view about 100 cattle yarded at ‘Vale View’ before heading back to the Nanango area to see cattle from ‘Magnum’ and ‘Billabong’. A cook-up dinner and drinks will be available here for a nominal cost.

On Sunday, July 22, the bus will again leave from Murgon and Nanango in the morning before heading to ‘Brigalow Park’ and ‘Glenn Valley’ for smoko. It will then travel to Cloyna to view cattle from ‘Imperial’ and ‘ Tajana’ before stopping off at Windera for lunch at ‘RSVP/Sylvan Springs’. It will head back to Murgon and Nanango about 2:00pm.

Potential bull buyers can either book for a one-day or two-day complimentary bus trip. Lunch and drinks will be provided throughout the day.

There will be 13 studs showcasing more than 200 stud and commercial Droughtmaster bulls that are available for sale at auction or out of the paddock. Also on display will be females, weaners and sires being used by these studs.

Seats on the  2012 South Burnett Bull Tour are limited. For more information, contact John Scott  at ‘Rocky View’ on (07) 4163-1668 or by email or Colleen Fricke at ‘Vale View’ on (07) 4168-8110 or by email by July 5.
