Perth-based engineering and mining industry specialist Logicamms has been awarded an $8.5 million contract with Stanwell Corporation to upgrade the control system of the coal handling preparation plant at the Meandu mine.

Logicamms told the ASX today that work would begin immediately and continue for about 18 months.

The Meandu mine supplies more than 7 million tons of coal per annum to the adjacent Tarong power stations.

LogiCamms said the scope for the upgrade project involved detailed design, installation, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and operator training.

Managing director Steve Banning said the contract builds on the company’s solid track record in control system projects and delivery of services to the coal industry.
