Rugby League player Amber Saltner, from Cherbourg, is in training camp in Brisbane after being selected to play for the Queensland Women’s side.
Amber is believed to be the first woman from the South Burnett to reach this level of representative rugby league and is one of only three Central players selected in the squad.
The team was announced following the recent QRL State Championships at Ipswich.
It will be captained by Karyn Murphy, a veteran of Queensland, State of Origin and World Cup campaigns.
Other regional selections are Natalie Gala, who captained Bundaberg to success in the 47th Battalion women’s carnival played recently, and veteran international Tegan Rolfe.
The Queenslanders will take on the NSW Women’s team at Centrebet Stadium in Penrith next Saturday. The game will be played as a curtain-raiser to the Penrith Panthers v Parramatta Eels NRL match.
