The ACICC's 2011 Report has been released

The Aboriginal Community Interest Consultative Committee (ACICC) has released it latest annual report detailing $166,246 in local projects funded last year.

The committee is made up of representatives from the Stanwell Corporation, the Wakka Wakka people and the South Burnett’s broader indigenous community.

It was one of the bodies set up under the Indigenous Land Use Agreement that was signed by representatives from Tarong Energy and the Wakka Wakka people in 2009.

The funding was spread across a number of sectors including education, health, sport, business, culture and community.

Projects assisted in the South Burnett included:

  • High School scholarships
  • The Post-Secondary Education and Training program
  • Junior Representative Sports Award
  • Support for various sporting endeavours including golf, softball, rugby league and cricket
  • $16,500 for the Timeline Project at the Cherbourg Historical Precinct
  • $11,000 for an upgrade at Mudjimba Safe House
  • $11,000 for UsMob newsletters
  • $5000 for a bush tucker garden at St Joseph’s School, Murgon
  • $7500 for the South Burnett Young Leaders Association (Cherbourg group)
