Part of the Cool Country advertising campaign

June 1, 2012

Toowoomba Golden West and South Burnett Tourism have launched a $68,000 multi-media campaign to entice visitors to take a “Cool Country Escape” in the region.

A major part of the campaign uses digital and social media to give someone a chance to win a $3000 holiday for them and five friends or family.

Entrants can choose between a gourmet food and wine experience in the Granite Belt, a family farm stay in the Darling Downs, or a “natural wonders retreat” in the South Burnett.

The campaign has been created in conjunction with Southern Downs and Granite Belt Tourism, and has been supported by Tourism Queensland, regional councils and the tourism industry.

A media release from TGWSBT said the campaign was expected to provide a substantial boost to tourism during the winter months.

“At a media cost of $68,000 but valued at over $220,000, the integrated campaign features a range of different media including digital marketing, press, radio and outdoor advertising,” the release said.

Mary-Clare Power, who is CEO of both TGWSBT and SDGBT, said she was excited about what the campaign meant for the region.

“Our region is distinct in that the climate is so different from Brisbane or the coast, and you can come and experience a true winter,” Ms Power said.

“We have capitalised on that with our ‘Cool Country Escapes’ campaign, encouraging people to take a cosy short break and experience the wonderful things that our region has to offer during winter.”
