Congratulations to Lorrie Pegrem, from Coolabunia State School, who has won a “My Favourite Teacher” award as part of State Education Week.

Lorrie joins other winners in recent years: Rosalie Cole (Cooyar SS), Margaret Bowman (Wooroolin SS), Kylie Hindle (Yarraman P-10), Caroline Lawson (Benarkin SS) and Linda Venning (Cloyna SS) in the South Burnett’s roll of “favourite teachers”.

Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek today paid tribute to all the winners of the award.

More than 30 Queensland teachers were recognised this year across the State, and almost 2000 were nominated.

“Winning teachers should be extremely proud of their awards which acknowledge the significant contribution they’ve made to their students’ lives,” Mr Langbroek said.

“Research shows that teacher quality is one of the major determinants of student success and it is essential we recognise and reward excellence.

“Students have identified their teachers as wonderful educators who deserve recognition for the great job they are doing, and I’d like to thank those who took the time to nominate and vote for their favourite teacher.”
