The Mother’s Day Classic fun run – or walk! – organised by the Go Getta Girls in Kingaroy this morning attracted an amazing 282 competitors.

The not-for-profit Kingaroy running club staged the four kilometre event to help raise funds for breast cancer research.

Flowers, tutus … in fact, all things pink, were sold in Memorial Park to raise money – and to decorate the runners.

The fun run was part of a number of Mother’s Day Classic events scheduled across Australia yesterday to encourage communities to celebrate Mother’s Day and at the same time help cancer research.

The Kingaroy event was sponsored by Stanwell (Tarong Power Stations and Meandu Mine). Many local businesses also donated prizes for the entrants.
