The South Burnett Youth Choir sent a small group of singers to perform at the National Thanksgiving Day ceremony at Proston State School on Saturday.

The children sang three songs: “The Rainbow Connection”, “Afternoon On A Hill” and a song in Hebrew called “S’Vivon”.

All the pieces involved harmonies that the children had perfected in preparation for the recent Kingaroy Eisteddfod where they came either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in all of the 12 sections they entered.

Choir director Jane Iszlaub said the South Burnett Youth Choir now has just over 20 singers and is growing steadily.

Rehearsals are held weekly in Wondai on Mondays (4:00pm-6:00pm at the Lutheran Church in Edwards Street) and Kingaroy on Tuesdays (5:30pm–7:30pm in the 1913 Chambers in Edward Street).

She said all children aged 8–18 were welcome and there were no auditions. Choir members come from across the South Burnett region, from Tanduringie to Proston.
