Was this the best Kingaroy Show ever? The thousands of people who attended the two-day event probably think so … and the organisers are thrilled!”It was fantastic. We’re over the moon,” Show Society president Cliff Seiler said today.
“And we’re so happy with the response from the town to support this year’s show.”
The numbers through the gate were up from last year. And in what must be a first for a modern Australian event, the entry prices were down.
Organisers believe the lower entry fee “most definitely” helped to boost attendance numbers, but so did the perfect weather.
The South Burnett Show Society also made an extra effort this year “to get the word out” that the show was on.
Local businesses also benefited as trade displays were free, although food vendors had to pay.
“The showies said they couldn’t believe how many people there were here,” Ros Tigel said from the Show Office today.
The quality of competitions over the two days were also excellent, with national and Queensland champions aplenty competing in the woodchopping.
Saturday’s activities culminated in a massive fireworks display which could be seen all over Kingaroy.
Sunday finished with a bang, with a free Speedway Show featuring spills, thrills and lots of exciting racing.
