South Burnett Football
Football South Burnett is looking for referees or people interested in learning to become a referee.
Last year six new referees joined the ranks but and Football South Burnett is constantly looking for more.
Like other sports, when referees turn 18 many leave the region looking for work or go to uni.
South Burnett Referees are Football Federation Australia-affiliated and are part of the South West Queensland Zone.
Once a referee gain a qualification, they can referee anywhere in Australia.
The main dilemma is that most of the young referees also play, which limits the time that can be spent refereeing. There are only four non-playing referees in the area and more are needed.
Refereeing is a great way for ex-players to keep in touch with the game and to make a bit of pocket money at the same time.
All training is free of charge and offered locally over a day or two.
If you have current refereeing qualifications, South Burnett Football would love to hear from you as well.
The association s hoping to run an entry level course (level 4) in Nanango on Sunday, May 27, depending on numbers.
Refereeing is not everyone’s cup of tea but if you are interested, please contact me on 0437-636-484 or visit the Football Couth Burnett website.
