Murgon Rail Trail Festival

The inaugural Murgon Rail Trail Festival will be held in the grounds around the Murgon Men's Shed in Macalister Street, Murgon from 6:00am to 3:00pm today. This family-oriented event includes a marathon and a mega obstacle course which spreads across three football fields. There'll also be live entertainment, markets, food and wine and heaps of activities for children. You can find out more details on the Festival's website.
Lifeflight Chainsaw Races - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Community Group will be holding the second day of a weekend-long post ripping competition at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds today as a fundraiser for the LifeFlight helicopter rescue service. Events will get underway with a BBQ breakfast between 6:00am and 9:00am, followed by a 10 event program that will feature the finals of the Open Post Rip along with a Major Open, a Jack and Jill, a Consolation and a Local post rip, too. There'll also be food and drink available on site, thanks to the Tanduringie State School P&C, along with a jumping castle and face painting to keep young children amused. Free overnight camping will be available in the Sportsgrounds for competitors and/or spectators who want to stay over, and both the nearby Maidenwell Hotel and Maidenwell Trading Post will be operating as well. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas, and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park. Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at CTC's rooms at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm to around 3:30pm this afternoon. The Society exists for orchid enthusiasts of all skill levels and meets on the last Sunday of every month except December. New members and visitors are always very welcome. More details? Sunday Bingo - Wondai

Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. SEQ Marathon Challenge - Yarraman
CANCELLED: Endurance Horse Sports Australia will be holding the second day of their 3-day SEQ Marathon Challenge at the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway west of the CBD today. This event features 20km, 40km and 60km rides and fees apply for each ride. Registrations need to be made through the EHSA website.
