Birds Of A Feather Giant Garage Sale - Kingaroy
- The Birds Of A Feather cancer support group will be holding the second (and final) day of their 20th annual Giant Garage Sale in Kingaroy today to raise funds for the Cancer Council Queensland. The garage sale will run from 7:00am to 12:00 noon at 28 Arthur Street in Kingaroy and there will be a wide variety of quality goods for sale including household items, bric-a-brac, collectibles, plants, cakes and jams, tools, silverware, clothing, crockery, manchester and much more - just perfect for bargain-hunters!
Murgon Men's Shed
- The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Pig Day Out - Nanango
- Pig Day Out - a fundraising event to support Nanango's Bushy Blue Beavers team taking part in this year's Variety Club Rally - will be held at the Nanango Services Club in Henry Street, Nanango from 1:00m until late this afternoon. The event will feature live entertainment, hot food and a bar inside the club and outside in the rear car park there'll be pig racing from 2:00pm (always a lot of fun!) and a Fashions Of The Field competition for the best dressed patrons. Entry is just a $5 donation and everyone is welcome!
Cent Sale & Auction - Murgon
- Murgon RSL's Citizens Auxiliary will be holding a Cent Sale & Auction at the Welfare Drop-In Centre at 44 Stephens Street West in Murgon from 9:00am (when doors open) for a 9:30am start. There'll be great prizes up for grabs and the $5 entry fee includes a sheet of tickets and morning tea. Everyone is welcome!
Witness For The Prosecution - Nanango
- The Nanango Theatre Company will presenting their final performances of Agatha Christie's gripping courtroom drama "Witness For The Prosecution" at their playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 2:00pm this afternoon, and again at 7:00pm tonight. Tickets to see this three hour show are $25 for adults (or $20 for concessions and NTC members) and they can be booked online.
Nanango Men's Shed
- The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Saturday get-together. Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. Junior Motorcycle Club Practice Day - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Practice Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (but use the Avoca Street entrance) with racing from around 10:00am through until early this afternoon. The club is for young motorcycle riders aged 4 to 16 and spectators are very welcome, with free admission. More details? Phone 0407-623-012. Final Day For Farm 2 Fork - Wooroolin
- The Farm 2 Fork collective will be closing their shop on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin today. The shop specialised in selling locally-produced foods and wines and will be clearing out the last of its remaining stock today. You can read more about Farm 2 Fork on our website
Nanango Mini Market
- The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $3 sausage sizzle, $1.00 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers & Heritage Muster - Boondooma
- The fifth day of the six-day Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers & Heritage Muster will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma today. This popular annual campout week features lots of Australia's top bush balladeers and poets (more than 20 will be appearing at the Muster this year) along with walk-up artists. The Muster routinely attracts 700 to 800 caravanners plus day-trippers and in addition to lots of non-stop music there'll also be great camp oven meals, a licensed bar, BBQ, stalls, and displays of vintage cars and engines, photography and historical items. Admission to today's Muster is $42.63 (bring cash - there's no EFTPOS on site). Bush camping is also available and can be booked by phoning the Homestead's caretakers on (07) 4168-0159. Yarraman Markets
- The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and they feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Manumbar Campdraft
- The second day of the three-day 62nd Annual Manumbar Campdraft will be held at the Manumbar Campdraft Grounds at 3896 Manumbar Road today, kicking off at 6:00am this morning with the Jack Perrett Memorial Novice Draft, followed after lunch by the Leon Franz Memorial Novice Draft which will run until dusk. This year's campdraft will feature Maiden, Novice, Open, Juvenile and Junior drafts, along with pony club events for children aged from 1 up to 17 running from 10:00am this morning. Free in-site camping is available if you want to stay over, and takeaway meals are available too if hunger strikes. Admission to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators and everyone is welcome. - The first day of the 2024 Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 10:45am onwards today, with competitors in the junior group dancing section battling it out for line honours. - Karma's Place Rescue will be holding their 4th Saturday of the month Animal Adoption Day from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning at 36 Scott Street in Wondai. Puppies, adult dogs and young adult cats will all be available for adoption (a fee applies). Note: All animals will be flea and worm treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped before rehoming.
Wooroolin Line Dancers

Saturday Soccer - Nanango & Kingaroy
- Football South Burnett's men's teams will be playing two matches today. At 1:00pm, Nanango Blue will play Nanango White at the Alan Downie Sportsfields in Burnett Street, Nanango; and at 6:00pm, Kingaroy West will play Barambah at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy. Spectators are very welcome at both games.
Saturday AFL - Toowoomba
- South Burnett Saints fans will need to travel to Rockville Oval in Toowoomba today to cheer the home teams on as they play in the second round of the Darling Downs competition. All three Saints teams (ie men, women and U14s) will be in action, with the men's and women's teams keen to clock up another win after both teams convincingly trounced the Toowoomba Bombers last Saturday.
Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
- Rugby league fans should head to T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today, which will be hosting junior games in the morning and Round 1 of the local competition in the afternoon. The day will; kick off at 8:00am with U6s, U8s and U10s games, followed by U12s at 9:40am and then an U14s match between Chinchilla and Murgon at 12:40pm. This, in turn, will be followed by an U17s match between South Burnett and Highfields in the TJRL competition, before the local season gets underway at 3:00pm with an A-grade match between Kingaroy's Red Ants and the Wondai Wolves, followed by a second clash at 4:30pm between the Nanango Stags and Cherbourg Hornets. A canteen will be operating in the grounds (a bar will also open once the junior games conclude) and spectators are very welcome.
Maidenwell Country Markets
- The Maidenwell Country Markets will be held outside the Maidenwell Hotel from 8:00am to 1:00pm today. The markets will feature arts and crafts, plants, fruit and veg, clothing and local produce and run on the last Saturday of every moth.
