Kingaroy Speedway
Day 2 of the two-day National Junior Title and Wingless Queensland Title event will get under way this afternoon at the South Burnett Speedway's Kingaroy Showgrounds track. Junior Sedans New Stars will also be in action. Gates open at 2:00pm for spectators with racing due to start at 4:00pm (although organisers may start earlier if it appears there are storms on the horizon). Today's racing will feature hotly contested heats and the finals in the two Titles classes. Entry is $30 for adults, $25 for pensioners (aged / disability) and students (with ID) with children aged 12 and under free (must be accompanied by an adult). A canteen, bar and the Snack Shack will be operating.
UPDATE: The New Stars events have been cancelled due to the rain. Check on the Kingaroy Speedway Facebook page on Saturday morning for a decision on whether the rest of the meeting will go ahead
Saturday Cricket
NB. UPDATED TIMES & LOCATIONS: The South Burnett Senior cricket competition resumes today with a series of Round 5 T20 games followed by the T20 Grand Final in the afternoon. At 11:30am, Wondai Wolves v Tingoora Vikings at Taabinga State School; and Wooroolin Warriors v Nanango Scorpions at Alan Downie Sportsfields, Nanango; and at 3:00pm, Kingaroy Services v Tingoora Huntsmen at Taabinga State School. The team in top spot on the ladder will play the second-best team in the T20 Grand Final at Alan Downie Sportsfields, Nanango, also at 3:00pm. Junior cricket will resume on February 1.
Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 8:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Wondai Parkrun - 8th Birthday
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning - and celebrating their 8th birthday! Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
- The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Aqua Aerobics - Wondai
- Wondai Swimming Pool is hosting free Aqua Aerobics on Saturday mornings from 7:00am until February 8 as part of a South Burnett Regional Council program. Spots can be booked online
Yarraman Country Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's new Yarraman Country Market will be on this morning at Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman.
As well as market stalls, there'll be a barbecue with bacon ann egg rolls and sausage sizzle. The Yarraman Country Markets are held om the second Saturday of every month.
Wooroolin Line Dancers
- The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes for beginners and intermediate dancers at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (intermediate). Course fees are $10 for intermediate (morning tea included) or $5 for beginners. BYO mug. Everyone is welcome.
Yarraman Men's Shed
