Saturday Cricket - Nanango and Murgon
There's very little cricket on this weekend (all South Burnett seniors teams are having a bye) but there are still several events that will be of interest to keen cricket fans. In Juniors, there will bed a muster for Stage 1 to Stage 3 players at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango at 8:30am this morning. The muster was timed to reflect the start of the school year but with school now deferred until February 7, it will occur a little early. Meanwhile, in the A Grade Competition, Murgon will play Gympie's Harlequins in Round 2, Day 2 of the Two Day Competition at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street from 12:30pm. This match promises to be a very tight contest, and spectators are welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Aussie Bush Bash - Proston
The Golden Spurs Hotel at the corner of Rodney and Blake Streets in Proston will be holding a family oriented Australian Bush Bash from 11:00am until late today as a belated Australia Day celebration. The gathering will feature a jumping castle with water and face-painting for children (all day for $7, which includes a free ice-block); post ripping (at 2:00pm and 4:00pm); a live band from 4:00pm to 8:00pm; raffles; a lucky door prize; and snags on bread with 5 choices of salad ($10 for kids and $15 for adults). Families are very welcome, and so is everyone else. More details? Phone the hotel on (07) 4168-9069.
