South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Power Up Car Show, Shine & Swap Meet - Nanango
The fifth annual Power Up Car Show & Shine And Swap Meet will be held at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango from 9:30am to around 1:30pm today. This gold coin donation family friendly event is a fundraiser for the Nanango Sporting Association to help keep the sports grounds in tip-top shape, and all pre-1988 vehicles and motorbikes from veteran to modern are very welcome to take part. The event will also feature food and coffee in the canteen area plus lots and lots of great vehicles to inspect, and there'll be 15 separate trophies and prizes on offer for the winners (public voting will take place from 9:30am to 11:30am (bring a pen) and trophies will be presented around 1:00pm. Show & Shine entrants and trade stallholders need to pay $15 and be parked in the designated area from 6:00am to be ready for the gates opening to the public at 9:30am. There'll also be live on ground entertainment on the grounds from Natalie Fenton and Harry Early, plus free face painting and a jumping castle to keep young children amused while their parents view (and vote on) the entrants in this year's competition. Everyone is welcome!
Bush Picnic - Taromeo
A BYO Bush Picnic will be held at Teamster's Park (Jessie's Well) in Taromeo from 10:00am onwards today to celebrate the official opening of the Pay Office displays and the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the Olzard family's contributions to the Taromeo area. Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas, and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park. Kilkivan Railway Markets
The monthly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets run on the last Sunday of every month and always feature an array of locally produced fruit, vegetables and merchandise. New stallholders are always welcome, too! More details? A Mud Women & Mochaccinos get-together will be held at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Wondai from 10:00am to 12:00 noon today. The event - jointly organised by the South Burnett Regional Council and the Federal Government - is designed to bring women, clay and magic together and it's free, but to help plan the catering an RSVP is required. The monthly Hivesville Country Markets will be held at Memorial Park (opposite the Hivesville Hotel) from 7:00am to around noon this morning. These family-friendly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. New stallholders are very welcome, too!
Hivesville Devonshire Teas
Hivesville's QCWA are celebrating their centenary this year, and the branch will be opening the doors at their rooms in Main Street from 7:00am to noon this morning to offer visitors Devonshire Teas and boutique-style coffee plus plants, crafts and general bric-a-brac items - the perfect complement to the Hivesville Markets just across the road. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a delicious morning tea and/or browse for a bargain.
Sunday Rugby League - Wondai
Rugby League fans should head to the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD today for a jam-packed program of men's and women's games. The day will be prefaced by the Wonder Wolves program (at 9:00am) and followed by an U18s men's game between South Burnett and Hervey Bay at 11:00am. After this the action will swap to women's matches, starting with an U16s clash between Wondai and Fraser Coast at 12:15pm. This will be followed by an A-grade women's game between Wondai and Fraser Coast at 1:30pm, and then a second A-grade women's match between Bundaberg and Cherbourg at 3:00pm. A canteen will be operating in the grounds from 9:00am and the bar will open at 1:30pm once junior matches conclude. Adult admission is $5 and everyone is welcome!
Seated Tai Chi Class - Blackbutt
Blackbutt Health Haven will be running a class teaching Tai Chi techniques and exercises that can be carried out from a seated position will be held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 1:00pm to 2:00pm this afternoon. The course fee is $10 and you should BYO seating.
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Mini Wedding Expo - Kingaroy
Burnett Bridal and Formal Events will be staging a mini Wedding Expo at the corner of Markwell and Glendon Streets in Kingaroy from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. The Expo will feature a fashion parade, live music, interactive displays, special offers and giveaways as well as the opportunity to meet Burnett Bridals' team members. The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
