South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today, with stallholders selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks, foods and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Art Gallery's "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Songs, Poems & Magic - Maidenwell
Dreambird Cottage Dining and Functions - a new cafe and restaurant operating at 88 Beare Road, Maidenwell - will be hosting "Songs, Poems & Magic" from 5:00pm until late tonight. The performance includes live music from singer-songwriter Anita Ree, Aussie yarns from bush poets Barry Offer and Bruce Webb, and a bit of magic from magician Trevor Ballin. Cost is $15 per adult and $5 for children, which includes a chance in the lucky door prizes. Stonehouse Open Day - Moore
The historic Stonehouse on the D'Aguilar Highway at Moore will be holding an Open Day from 8:30am to around 3:30pm today (and also tomorrow). The Open Day will allow visitors to inspect progress on the restoration of this historic Brisbane Valley property by new owners Loretta and John Eastwood, but because parking on the site is limited access will be by bus only. Buses will be running from the Soldiers Hall off the highway in Moore to the Stonehouse and return all day, and tickets are $10 (or $20 for a family). Today there'll also be live music on site by the Nanango Community Choir, and the Soldiers Hall will be serving up legendary Moore Devonshire Teas to make the wait for a bus worthwhile. Nanango Mini Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 8:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1.20 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. South Burnett Saints Ladies Day - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints will be hosting their annual Ladies Day at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today. Apart from two great AFL home games - the first the Saints have played at Lyle Vidler Oval in several weeks - the event will feature grazing platters from Divine Grazing and South Burnett wines from Hillsdale Estate. Today, the Saints women's and men's teams will be playing the Dalby Swans, with the girls hitting the field at 12:45pm, followed by the blokes at 2:30pm. A canteen and bar will also be running, admission is free, COVIDSafe rules apply and everyone is welcome!
DJ Damo & Miss Charming - Kingaroy

Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. RNB Party With DJ Marshall - Nanango

Futurity, Maturity & Open Challenge - Kumbia
The South Burnett branch of the Australian Stock Horse Association will be holding a weekend-long Futurity, Maturity & Open Challenge at the Kumbia Showgrounds off Bell Street in Kumbia today and tomorrow. A canteen run by Kumbia Kindy will be operating all weekend, and tonight there'll be a Kumbia Golf Club bar in operation along with live music from popular South Burnett entertainer Arthur Nettelfield. Mini Mods Carnival - Wondai
The South Burnett's annual Mini Mods rugby league carnival will be held at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway in Wondai today. This carnival always attracts hundreds of junior players from all over the Wide-Bay Burnett (600 are expected this year) and matches will start at 8:30am and continue through until the late afternoon, with separate games being played across multiple fields. The U7s, U8s and U10s are all 15-minute games and will wrap up around 2:00pm, while the U12s are 18-minute games and will wrap up with the final scheduled to start at 4:30pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Spinning Workshop & Quilt Trail - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be holding a Spinning Workshop from 10:00am to 2:00pm today to teach the art of spinning to anyone who wants to learn it. Course fees are $15 and places are limited, though, so you should book beforehand by phoning (07) 4189-9323. The Gallery will also be running a Quilt Trail at eight different venues around Kingaroy this weekend to conclude their two-month Winter Craft Festival. If you fancy a bit of a treasure hunt, you can get your first clue by visiting the Gallery today.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Buzz Talay & The Stone River Fever - Linville
Iconoclastic Brisbane Valley country funk band Buzz Talay & The Stone River Fever will be performing over lunch at The Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville today, serving up a toe-tapping repertoire partly inspired by corn liquor and partly by hard rock. The Rocknrollabillys will be performing good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. The band frequently perform on the Sunshine Coast and they'll be bringing all the danceable fun of their show to the South Burnett tonight. Admission is free. Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
This weekend's local league competition will be played at TJ O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, kicking off with an U15s clash between South Burnett and Souths Tigers at 10:30am and followed by an U16s match between South Burnett and Souths Tigers at 11:40pm. After this, there'll be an U14s match between Kingaroy and Nanango at 12:50pm which will lead on to today's A-Grade double-header. The first A-grade match will be played between the Wondai Wolves and Cherbourg Hornets at 1:50pm, and this will be followed by a second game between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Nanango Stags at 3:20pm. A bar and canteen will be running in the grounds and spectators are very welcome. Note: This weekend, juniors will be playing at the annual Mini Mods Carnival in Wondai (see entry further above), and U18s have the bye.
