A jury has been unable to reach a verdict in a Brisbane District Court trial which followed the death of a young boy at Blackbutt North in July 2023.

Jack Brown, 5, was run over by a Ford Ranger ute driven by a friend of his family, Rafael-Eban Solomon, on a private property in Gilliland Crescent.

Solomon pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving causing death.

The court was told Jack got out of the ute to help open a gate.

He then stood on the side steps as the ute travelled up the driveway but either fell or jumped off and was struck by the vehicle.

Judge Anthony Rafter SC discharged the jury on Friday.
