The South Burnett Local Disaster Recovery Group (LDRG) is still in Stand Up mode, including its three recovery sub-committees which are working to facilitate a co-ordinated approach to community recovery.

The sub-groups met on March 25 to continue assessing and receiving reports from government and non-government agencies.

  • Human and Social / Economic Sub-Group

The group encourages all community members who have been affected to complete Council’s Community Damage Impact Survey so it can continue to capture the impact to our community and ensure agency support is provided where required.

Primary producers and small businesses are eligible for disaster grants through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA).

The grants, provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, are available to support primary producers with the costs associated in the clean-up and reinstatement of primary production enterprises that have suffered direct damage as a result of the disaster.

For more information, including eligibility and how to apply, visit QRIDA’s website, call 1800-623-946 or visit Council’s customer service team for a hard copy of the application form.

  • Environmental Sub-Group

The Environmental Sub-Group encourages landholders to take early action to detect weed outbreaks.

Detecting infestations can assist managing weeds before they become a significant problem.

If landholders need assistance in identifying weeds, contact the Queensland DPI ‘s Kingaroy Office or Council’s Biosecurity Team.

  • Roads & Transport / Building & Assets Group

The initial run of emergency works is under way with 93 per cent of the local road network inspected so far.

A total of 1442km of sealed and 1473km of unsealed roads have been inspected in the initial phase; 2025 individual sites have been damaged across 600 roads.

Council crews and contract crews are finalising inspections.

Emergency works have been identified, including damage to crossings and structures, formation grading, pavement repairs and silt/drainage.

There will be a 90-day “emergent works” period with road repairs prioritised based on the level of damage.

The ongoing road recovery is expected to be long-term.
