March 20, 2026

Saints have the opportunity on Saturday to wrap up their inaugural year in the South Burnett Cricket Association’s senior competition with a Grand Final victory.

They’ll be taking on Wooroolin Warriors who defeated Kingaroy Services in the Preliminary Final last Saturday at Wondai Cricket Ground.

Warriors won the toss and elected to bat.

Kingaroy’s bowlers ripped through Warriors’ top order before John-Paul Schultz (70 not out) turned the game around.

Patrick Figg (28 not out) added more valuable runs in a valuable partnership with Schultz.

At the end of their 40 overs, Warriors were 5/156.

Trevor Black (2/18 off 7 overs) and Lachlan Watson (2/11 off 8 including 2 maidens) finished with the best bowling figures for Kingaroy.

In reply, Kingaroy were all out for 96 in the 38th over.

Opener Fletcher Black (18) and captain Trevor Black (17) were the top scorers.

The Wooroolin bowlers provided few scoring opportunities, with Matt Nesbitt (2/9 off 4 including 1 maiden) and Noah Birch (3/21 off 5) finishing with the best figures.

The Grand Final will be played from 12:30pm on Saturday at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

Gympie A Grade Grand Final

Wooroolin Warriors have been officially declared winners of the Gympie Two-Day competition after finishing on top of the ladder at the end of the regular season.

Wet weather prevented further play last Saturday in the Grand Final game against Harlequins at Jack Ison Oval in Gympie.

At the end of Day 1 on March 7, Warriors were 3/165 after batting for 69 overs.

Lachlan Cullen was top-scorer with 79 runs, including six boundaries.

Lochlan Burrows was 68 not out.

There was no further play on March 14.

This is Wooroolin’s second Grand Final win this year in the Gympie A Grade competition.

In January, Warriors locked in a narrow victory over Harlequins in the One-Day series.
