Police divers were working on Thursday morning to retrieve two bodies found inside a semi-submerged vehicle in Wide Bay Creek, west of Kilkivan.
The bodies are yet to be formally identified but police believe they belong to two Chinese tourists who went missing while travelling from Brisbane to the North Burnett earlier this week.
The 26-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were reported missing when they failed to reach their destination.
A search for their silver Subaru Forester began on Wednesday morning involving police, SES and helicopters in the Kilkivan to Mundubbera area.
A vehicle was located on Wednesday afternoon in floodwaters near Kilkivan-Tansey Road and McArthur Road.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating but it is believed the vehicle may have been washed off while attempting to cross the Wide Bay Creek Bridge on Kilkivan-Tansey Road.
