The recent heavy rain has forced the postponement of both the Murgon and Goomeri shows.

The Murgon Show was to have been held this weekend, with a rodeo planned for Saturday night.

The show will now go ahead on June 19-20.

“We understand this may be disappointing, however this decision has been made in the best interests of our community, competitors, animals and volunteers,” a spokesperson said.

“Entries will open as soon as possible, and the updated schedule will be available shortly.”

The Goomeri Show was scheduled for March 20-21.

No new dates have been announced yet for the show although the Showgirl competition will go ahead as planned on March 20.

The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group met on Wednesday morning and has moved its status to “Stand Down” as the direct flooding emergency has now passed.

A spokesperson said Council, along with other government agencies, would continue their response to the community and infrastructure damage which had occurred.
