Police have charged four teenage boys over recent break-ins and car thefts in Wondai and Kingaroy.
Police will allege that:
- About 1:50am on March 3, two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy broke into a Mackenzie Street property in Wondai, stealing a 2024 Mazda BT-50. The vehicle was recovered in Cherbourg.
- About 2:00pm on March 3, a 14-year-boy broke into a shop on Mackenzie Street in Wondai and stole a cash register. He is also alleged to have been involved in the theft of fuel from a service station in Slacks Creek on February 17.
- On March 5, a 15-year-old boy was involved in a break-and-enter of a home in Haly Street, Wondai, where a 2013 Holden Calais and a 2025 Ford Ranger were stolen. Both vehicles were later recovered in Cherbourg.
- About 2:00am on March 5, a 15-year-old boy broke into a Coral Street address in Kingaroy, however he was interrupted by a resident and left the scene. About 10 minutes later, he attempted to break into a Bridgeman Parade property before leaving the scene.
A 15-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with entering premises and committing an indictable offence by break, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence and three breaches of bail. He has been remanded in custody to Kingaroy Children’s Court on March 16.
A 15-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He has been bailed to appear in Murgon Children’s Court on March 31.
A 15-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence, attempted enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and attempted enter dwelling with intent. He has been remanded in custody to appear in Murgon Children’s Court on March 31.
A 14-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, and stealing. He has been remanded in custody to appear in Kingaroy Children’s Court on March 26.
The charges follow the wrap-up of Operation Yankee Forge after 10 days in the Darling Downs Police District.
A police spokesperson said that between February 28 and March 9, 26 people were charged with 44 offences in relation to robbery, enter with intent, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and burglary across the Police District.
