Local councillor Ros Heit hit the floor with Country Music Campout organiser Terry Mason

March 6, 2026

Did you notice all the caravans and campers in Wooroolin last weekend? It was a sure sign the Country Music Campout was back in town.

The popular event at Wooroolin Memorial Hall was started by Geoff Grevell and Sue Bradley back in 2021, and has been held annually (or more often) since then.

It always attracts lots of amateur and professional singers eager to take a turn on the stage.

And most of them camp just across the road from the hall!

This year, the Country Music Campout was organised by Terry and Noraine Mason, from Bundaberg, although Geoff and Sue were still involved.

Speaking at the Friday night dance, Terry said he had been happy with the turnout and there had already been 63 walk-ups for the event.

All the favourite activities took place, including a dance on one night and a big variety concert as a finale.

Terry said a second campout event would be held at Wooroolin later year.

The dates for this are September 23-26.

Bill Mathews, from Childers, joined Sue Bradley on stage at the Friday night dance
Val Hodson and Cavil Tocks, from Wondai
Paula Ogilvie, from Wondai, and Yvonne Hodder, Wooroolin
Dancers were enjoying a traditional Pride Of Erin but minutes later there was also a line dance!
