A stolen vehicle which was torched in Cherbourg on Thursday night is believed to be linked to bag snatch in Murgon earlier in the day.
Police are appealing for public assistance after the silver Mitsubishi Triton was abandoned on Murray Road, Cherbourg, about 9:50pm and set on fire.
A police spokesperson said the vehicle was believed to be involved in another incident about 6:20am.
An occupant of the Triton allegedly stole a woman’s bag on Lamb Street in Murgon.
Two males then drove off towards Cherbourg.
The police spokesperson said the Triton was stolen from an address in Fitzgibbon about 3:15am on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, Cherbourg State School posted on social media that due to a stolen vehicle in the community “our bus service will not be operating this morning until we are able to ensure the safety of our students and staff”.
Police are urging anyone with information, or relevant vision of the vehicle, to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800-333-000.
