A tractor pulling a slasher was destroyed in a blaze which spread to nearby grassland at Haly Creek on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Stuart Valley Drive / Ellesmere Road  just after 3:05pm.

Reports suggest the Council slasher had just finished slashing a roadside verge when the fire broke out.

The vehicle was engulfed in fire when fire crews arrived.

They quickly extinguished the flames and brought the grass fire under control.
