February 10, 2026

Cherbourg Council has organised a community fun run next week to mark the official opening of the first stage of the new footpath linking Cherbourg and Murgon.

The “Many Tribes Fun Run for One Community” aims to celebrate connections, culture and shared futures as well as promoting healthy activities.

It will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 17, in Wakka Wakka Park and finish with a barbecue lunch and community get-together at Turtle Park.

A bus will be available to return walkers / runners to Wakka Wakka Park.

“Whether you walk, run, dress up, cheer from the sidelines or just come along to yarn and enjoy the day — everyone is welcome,” a Council spokesperson said.

“This is a family-friendly, inclusive event for Cherbourg, Murgon and the wider South Burnett region.

“This footpath connects more than just two places — it connects people, stories and futures. Let’s walk together.”

Schools, families, local organisations, service providers and community groups have been invited to enter a team, host a stall or support the event on the day.
