I welcomed a visit from Police Minister Dan Purdie in early December, providing an important opportunity to engage directly with local police and community leaders about community safety.
The Minister joined me to meet with representatives from the South Burnett Regional Council, alongside officers from almost every level of policing across the region.
The meeting was highly informative and focused heavily on the current crime challenges affecting local communities.
Crime and community safety were front and centre of the discussions, with the Minister outlining the Queensland Police Service’s ongoing work to address the recent surge in offending.
Local officers provided updates on current strategies, including targeted patrols, youth engagement initiatives and strengthened co-ordination between policing units.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the South Burnett and continuing to listen to the concerns of residents.
The visit was a valuable opportunity to ensure the region’s needs are clearly understood and that frontline police have the support they require to keep the community safe.

Kingaroy SHS Refurbished Tuckshop Opens
Kingaroy State High School will be starting the new year with their officially opened and refurbished tuckshop.
School tuckshops are the hub of every school and the heart of their fundraising, bringing together parents, volunteers, staff and students.
It was wonderful to join the extended Kingaroy State High School community to unveil the beautifully refurbished tuckshop, a project made possible through the generosity of Des Rowe, P&C president Lois Blanch and the many volunteers past and present.
Student and talented musician Cooper Kruse was a wonderful addition to the opening.

Opens In Time For The Holidays

When Wooroolin local Nate wrote to me asking for a skatepark, I met with him and the local kids and promised I’d do my best to make it happen.
A year on from the election, and the Wooroolin Skate Park is now officially open!
It’s always fantastic to see what can be achieved when levels of government come together for our community and I look forward to seeing this project grow and develop for the Wooroolin community.

Amanda Camm Visits Kingaroy

The South Burnett was honoured to welcome Minister For Child Safety Amanda Camm for a series of important community engagements across the region.
Minister Camm met with the South Burnett Regional Council and local Child Safety staff before joining me at Endeavour Foundation’s Kingaroy Kitchen for their All AbiliTea morning tea event.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Kingaroy Kitchen community, celebrate their achievements, and enjoy a behind the scenes tour of their kitchen and packing facilities.
The Endeavour Foundation continues to play a vital role in supporting people with disability to live, work and contribute meaningfully to their communities, and it was fantastic to showcase their work during the Minister’s visit.

Community Christmas Catch Up

What a joy it was to host my traditional Christmas gathering for our community leaders and groups from across the Nanango Electorate.
Our annual Christmas catch up is always a highlight — a chance to come together, reflect on the year and thank everyone for the work they do each and every day in our patch.
Living in a community like ours is something truly special.
The generosity, resilience and spirit of the South Burnett shines through in everything we do, and it’s a privilege to celebrate that with the people who help make this region such a wonderful place to call home.
