Three people were injured – one seriously – when an allegedly stolen Toyota Hilux crashed into their vehicle near Goodger on Thursday afternoon (January 8).
Emergency services were called to the incident about 4:30pm.
A police spokesperson said a 48-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were transported by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital with minor injuries.
The third occupant, a 44-year-old man, was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious but stable condition with pelvic injuries.
He had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.
The alleged driver of the Hilux, a 23-year-old Kawl Kawl man, was airlifted from Kingaroy Hospital to Toowoomba Hospital in a critical condition with chest, shoulder, arm and pelvic injuries.
The head-on crash was the culmination of a string of incidents which allegedly began at Moffatdale about 10:00am on Thursday.
Police will allege a stolen white Nissan Navara was spotted doing burnouts in a field on Stegemanns Road.
This vehicle later crashed on Harms Road at Wheatlands, and two men fled the scene.
Police arrested 31-year-old Murgon man short time later; he has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of wilful damage.
He was due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday.
Police will allege the other occupant, the Kawl Kawl man, fled the scene and then stole more vehicles in his attempt to evade police.
About 11:40am, police were notified of an armed robbery at a Kawl Kawl residence where it is alleged the man stole a white Hyundai Accent.
Police tried to intercept the vehicle, however it sped off.
Police were then notified of the theft and subsequent abandonment of a white Toyota Hilux at Memerambi, followed by the theft of a blue Toyota Hilux in South Nanango.
It was this blue Hilux which was involved in the Goodger crash.
A police spokesperson said there was “no direct police pursuit or intercept” at the time of the crash.
Kingaroy-Cooyar Road was closed while emergency crews were at the scene.
The Kawl Kawl man faces 26 charges:
- Armed robbery

- Authority required to possess explosives
- Unlawful possession of property reasonably suspected of being stolen
