It was a pleasure to visit the Brown family’s Pakaderinga Feedlot, a long‑standing operation that has been proudly run across generations.
Their commitment to the land and to producing quality outcomes is a great example of regional Queenslanders doing what they do best – combining hard work and innovation.
During the visit, the Browns shared their exciting extensions and plans, highlighting the importance of continued investment in local agriculture.
Their vision demonstrates how family‑run enterprises can adapt and grow while staying true to the values that have sustained them for decades.

Local Champions Leading the Way in Rural Health
Kingaroy’s own Eiryn – a medical student, registered nurse, and soon‑to‑be intern doctor – is making a real impact by leading conversations about the barriers to health in our community.
Her passion for the region and commitment to improving outcomes highlight why investing in local talent is essential to strengthening rural health.
I was proud to attend the recent Rural Health Summit where voices like Eiryn’s reminded us that empowering our health system begins with supporting our people.
By backing local champions, we can deliver better outcomes for families and communities across Somerset and South Burnett.
The evening reinforced a powerful message: when we invest in people, we build stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.

Cherbourg Students At Lunch

During a recent visit to Cherbourg, I was excited to hear of four impressive young women who are stepping up as future leaders.
Together with Mayor Bruce Simpson and Council, we discussed youth leadership, education, and the success of Cherbourg students currently studying at university.
It was clear that these young women represent the strength and potential of their community. Listening to their stories and ambitions was inspiring — they spoke with passion about education, opportunity, and the pathways they are pursuing.
I enjoyed hearing their journey so much that I invited them to join me at Parliament.
They were able to enjoy lunch, tour the precinct and observe proceedings from the public gallery.
It was a privilege to share that experience with them and to show how their voices can shape the future.

CTC Funding Announced
South Burnett CTC’s vision and dedication have secured a successful $240,000 Kickstarter grant for our region – with the focus firmly on stopping crime before it starts and giving young people the support they need to thrive.
Their project is part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering Gold Standard Early Intervention – practical programs that build stronger communities by tackling problems early.
For me, it was a proud moment to see local champions leading the way.
South Burnett CTC has long been a trusted organisation in our region, and now they are at the forefront of shaping safer, healthier futures for families across my electorate.
This is about more than funding. It’s about keeping promises, backing local people and restoring confidence that our communities can be safe and supported.
With leaders like Jason and Stacey driving change, the South Burnett is showing what’s possible when government and community work hand in hand.

Celebrating Nanango QCWA’s Centenary, Gatsby Style

It was a fun morning in Nanango as the Nanango QCWA marked 100 years of service with a lively Gatsby‑themed celebration.
Guests embraced the spirit of the era with wonderful costumes, creating a vibrant atmosphere that perfectly matched the sense of pride and joy in the room. The event also featured a beautiful display of memories from the past century, reminding us of the remarkable journey the QCWA has taken and the countless lives they have touched.
For a century, the QCWA has been a cornerstone of our community – offering support in times of disaster and emergency, providing practical help to families, and creating a network of care that has stood the test of time.
Their dedication, resilience, and generosity have shaped the South Burnett region, and this centenary celebration was a fitting tribute to their enduring legacy.
Excitingly the QCWA continues to inspire new generations to step up, volunteer, and carry on the proud tradition of helping others.
Congratulations to the Nanango QCWA on reaching this incredible milestone. May the next 100 years be just as strong, compassionate, and community‑minded as the first!

Honouring Service And Sacrifice

It was an absolute honour to address the community at the Nanango RSL Remembrance Day service.
The service was marked by a strong turnout, with great crowds gathering to pay their respects and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.
It is always special to have the community came together to ensure their legacy is remembered.
I extend my gratitude to the Nanango RSL for hosting such a meaningful service, and to everyone who attended to show their respect.
Together, we honour the past, support those who serve today, and commit ourselves to ensuring future generations understand the importance of remembrance.

Melbourne Cup Spirit Alive In Kumbia

Kumbia once again lived up to its reputation as the “Flemington of the Bush” with a fantastic Melbourne Cup celebration.
Great crowds turned out to enjoy the racing, fashion, and community spirit that make this event such a highlight on the local calendar.
I was excited to be able to bring along our very own Premier, David Crisafulli, joining locals in celebrating one of Australia’s most iconic sporting traditions.
Melbourne Cup in Kumbia is more than just a race, it’s a showcase of country hospitality, community pride, and the unique character of our region.
