The Wondai Regional Art Gallery could be the place to visit if you’re after a last-minute Christmas gift!
The gallery is currently hosting its traditional “Under The Bed Sale” which encourages South Burnett artists to clear their cupboards (and under their beds) of unsold artworks.
The artists are urged to offer the works at a discount price, with the incentive that all the cash will go straight to them, ie. the gallery won’t be taking a commission.
And there’s no fee for the artists to enter their works …
Some of the region’s best-known artists have works on the walls, many with price tags that would not even cover the cost of framing!
The exhibition was opened last Friday night with one of the biggest crowds seen in the gallery for years.
A choir of schoolchildren from Wondai P-9 State School performed Christmas carols during the evening, with many proud parents and friends watching on.
It was the choir’s debut performance in public after weeks of practising, adding a very festive feel to the night!
The Under The Bed Sale will continue at the Wondai Art Gallery until 3:00pm on January 31.
The gallery is open seven days a week (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and entry is free.
