Goomeri P-10 State School is one of 15 secondary schools across Queensland selected for CQUniversity’s Agribusiness Gateway to Industry Schools Project for 2026.
A total of 41 schools applied to take part in the project, which aims to inspire the next generation workforce for primary industry.
The other schools selected are Charters Towers, Clifton, Cloncurry, Emerald, Hervey Bay, Ingham, Rosewood, Sunnybank and Tamborine Mountain State High Schools; Eidsvold and Rosedale State Schools; Columba Catholic College; Concordia Lutheran College and St Joseph’s School, Stanthorpe.
A CQ University spokesperson said it was just the second time the Agribusiness program had been offered by CQUniversity’s Agri-tech Education and Extension team, and interested schools could still apply to participate in the new year.
During the first program, secondary students and teachers were connected with farmers, agri-tech professionals and industry leaders to create real-world experiences and showcase pathways into agriculture careers.
The Agribusiness Gateway to Industry Schools Project is managed by CQU and funded by the State Government through the Department of Trade, Employment and Training.
