Powerlink has awarded $44,000 in grants to not-for-profit associations in the local region as part of its $375,000 community grants program.
The annual program covers 18 council areas in regional Queensland, and this year attracted more than 180 applications.
Powerlink Community Relations Advisor Ben Galvin said he was pleased to see the response.
“Powerlink is proud to support these worthy initiatives and to add to the overall wellbeing of the communities in which we operate,” he said.
Community groups were eligible for up to $5000 in funding, capped at $25,000 per local government area.
Grants allocated to groups within the South Burnett, Toowoomba and Somerset council areas included:

| Kingaroy & District Tennis Association | Enhancing comfort and access at the Kingaroy Tennis Clubhouse | To install a reverse-cycle air conditioner in the clubhouse to create a comfortable, all-season space, support hire of the facility for wider community use, and enable the club to host meetings and programs year-round | $3000 |
| Wooroolin Lions Club | Wooroolin History In Pictures | To create a series of murals to be mounted on the large grain shed adjoining the South Burnett Rail Trail in Wooroolin depicting the history of the rail line | $3500 |
| Wondai & District Men’s Shed | Signwriting on Men’s Shed vehicle | For signwriting on the Men Shed’s Land vehicle which takes men’s health information to events | $3750 |
| South Burnett Karate Association | Crime prevention through security enhancement – SBKA Kingaroy | To improve security at the SBKA Kingaroy facility by replacing the front door with a high-security alternative | $3750 |
| Durong South State School P&C | Chilled water coolers for school students | To install a Hydrobank drinking water station for students | $3500 |
| Ballogie Community Association | Awning, water tank & pump installation | To create a shaded outdoor area with a weatherproof awning, a rainwater tank, and a solar pump to enable all-weather use | $3500 |
| Yarraman & District Bowls Club | Catering equipment replacement | To buy a new glass washer to ensure the club complies with health and safety regulations | $2500 |
| Yarraman and District Historical Society | Yarraman Heritage Centre – safety and grounds care project | To buy essential equipment and supplies, including a brush cutter and chainsaw, safety gear and first aid kits | $2400 |
| Yarraman Horse Sports | Kitchen appliance upgrade | To buy chip cookers to update canteen facilities | $2600 |
| Mt Stanley Muster | Shade and seating for spectators and families | To buy shaded grandstands for the campdraft grounds | $4500 |
