Queensland public school teachers plan to strike next Tuesday (November 25) for 24 hours – the second strike organised during their ongoing Enterprise Bargaining dispute with the State Government.
At the end of October, members of the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) voted to reject an 8 per cent pay rise over three years offered by the government.
The pay offer followed a short strike by teachers in August.
Last week, teachers rallied after school hours – instead of striking – as part of their dispute.
At the time, the QTU did not rule out holding further strikes although the Enterprise Bargaining dispute may now go to arbitration.
The QTU confirmed on Tuesday that teachers plan to take protected industrial action on November 25.
Schools are expected to remain open during the strike with students supervised by other staff.
