Justin Parer, former managing director of Cairns-based shipbuilding company BSE Maritime Solutions, has been appointed chair of State Government-owned Stanwell Corporation.
He replaces Paul Binsted, who still had one year left on his term.
Mr Parer was appointed to the Board of another government-owned corporation, Ports North, after the LNP took office but a potential conflict of interest – although managed – led him to resign last month.
Treasurer and Energy Minister David Janetzki welcomed Mr Parer’s appointment.
“Mr Parer has outstanding commercial and business experience which will provide fresh leadership to the Stanwell Board,” Mr Janetzki said.
“I sincerely thank outgoing chair Paul Binstead for his exceptional service to Stanwell over the past five years.”
