South Burnett Boars confer after Bundaberg opener Jack Munro was trapped LBW for 16 runs by Kieran Askin

November 7, 2025

The South Burnett Boars have notched up back-to-back wins in the prestigious Goodchild Shield cricket competition.

Bundaberg won the toss and sent the South Burnett in to bat at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy last Sunday.

The Boars got off to a shaky start but Jared Sippel, coming in at four, settled the ship and anchored several partnerships.

Sippel top scored with 69 runs off 100 balls, including one six and seven fours.

Nathan Roderick added a handy 28 runs.

The South Burnett Boars were all out for 184 after 44 overs.

In reply, Bundaberg had a strong start but fell short of the target, all out for 167 in 48 overs after a determined effort by the Boars triggered a mid-order batting collapse.

Boars’ wicketkeeper Samuel Dennien failed with the bat but had a very strong game in the field: a stumping, a catch and helping with a runout. Dennien also took a turn bowling, taking 1/9 off 1.1 overs.

Nathan Roderick (3/24 off 10), Kieran Askin (2/26 off 10) and Jared Sippel (2/34 off 9) did the damage with the ball.

The victory over Bundaberg has put the South Burnett on the top of the Goodchild Shield ladder.

Round 3 of the competition will be played on January 18 when the South Burnett will take on the Fraser Coast.
