A public meeting will be held in Nanango on Wednesday (November 5) to gather information to press the Federal Government to fix the mobile phone blackspots around the South Burnett and, in particular, in the Nanango area.

Local councillor Jane Erkens said she had arranged the meeting on behalf of local community members who had approached her after the recent storms in the area caused blackouts and blocked roads.

She said the information would be collated and sent to Federal Communications Minister Anika Wells as well as local MP, Nationals Leader David Littleproud.

Mr Littleproud has been invited to attend the meeting to hear for himself the distress that is being caused in the local community by the blackspots.

Cr Erkens said the mobile phone blackspots not only caused great disruption and inconvenience but they were also dangerous, creating a serious safety issue.

The meeting will be held from 5:00pm on Wednesday at the Old Masonic Lodge Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango.
