Kaimkillenbun residents have been invited by the Western Downs Regional Council to have their say on a public art project for the town’s Memorial Park and Delacy Street rest area.
The aim is to create an artwork that reflects the spirit of the Western Downs and the unique character of Kaimkillenbun.
Cr Peter Saxelby said feedback from residents would help guide the artist’s creative direction, ensuring the final work was rooted in local identity and pride.
“This is a chance for the people of Kaimkillenbun to shape a lasting cultural legacy,” Cr Saxelby said.
“We want to empower the ‘Bun community to be part of the journey, to share their stories, and to help inspire the artist’s vision.
“Feedback gathered will help form a creative brief for the selected artist or artists, who will then be invited to develop concept designs for consideration.
“We’d love to hear about the larger-than-life stories of our local icons, favourite places nestled in our local landscapes, our unique ‘Bun community spirit and the histories that deserve to be immortalised.”
Kaimkillenbun residents can share their ideas online before 5:00pm on December 8.
“The shortlisted artists will be shared publicly in 2026, with the successful artist to be determined by a selection panel,” Cr Saxelby said.
