FLASHBACK: CROW-FM crew members Sonia McMahon and Lacey Walker with station manager Rowena Irvine at an outside broadcast earlier this year

October 14, 2025

Community Radio Of Wondai – better known to everyone in the South Burnett as CROW-FM – will be celebrating its 30th birthday this Saturday.

There’ll be activities happening in and around the station building on the corner of the Bunya Highway and Haly Street, Wondai.

Station manager Rowena Irvine said there would be live music, giveaways, food and plenty of fun from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The Wondai Lions Club will have a barbecue going, there’ll be a garage sale happening and tours of the station will be available.

Amber Goldsmith, Chris Wenner and Jarrod Edwards will be providing the live music.

CROW-FM 90.7 (technically 4CSB) was incorporated in 1995 as a not-for-profit radio station after a local commercial station shifted to Toowoomba.

Public meetings were held at the time to discuss the formation of a committee to apply for a community broadcasting licence.

Under the community broadcasting model, revenue from sponsorship, grants and fundraising is reinvested into station operations rather than generating profits for shareholders.

Saturday’s celebration is an opportunity for the local community to celebrate everything CROW-FM has achieved over the past 30 years, as well as win some great prizes.

Everyone who spends $20 on CROW merchandise will go into a draw for a chance to win:

  • $1000 voucher from Furniture Court / Beds R Us / La-Z-Boy
  • Tranzmile tradie pack valued at more than $500 (includes MGX H2 Twin Handheld CB/LMR radio, 5L Wash & Wax, and 5L Vinyl Protectant)
  • $200 voucher and prize pack from Ken Mills Toyota.
