South Burnett Regional Council has revealed the location for the new Wooroolin skate park, an election promise made by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington ahead of the last State poll.

The State Government has allocated $150,000 for the new “Wooroolin Skate and Play Area”.

A Council spokesperson said it would be built at the site of the old Wooroolin tennis courts.

One of the courts will be turned into a dual-purpose area featuring a basketball half-court as well as a skate area.

The second court will remain in use for tennis.

The area will be closed to the public from Monday, October 13, until Friday, October 24, 2025, to allow construction to begin.

Contractors will pour a concrete slab that will serve as the foundation for both the basketball court and the skateboarding area.

Skate ramps will be installed in late November as Stage 1 of the project.

“I am excited by the opportunity this provides for young people in our area to get physically active and I thank our local member for her support of this initiative,” Deputy Mayor Ros Heit said.

Mrs Frecklington said she was thrilled to see the skate park progressing from vision to reality.

“I have been advocating for this facility ever since I was first approached in 2021 by local boys Harry and Nate. I was so impressed by their passion that I vowed to push for this project to come to fruition,” she said.

“I’m excited about what this means for local young people, families and visitors. Having a safe, modern space to gather, play, and be active is exactly what Wooroolin needs.

“It will be a wonderful asset for the entire Wooroolin community. ”
