Queensland Fire Department has released video of the Large Air Tanker (LAT) in action at the Gilla bushfire on Wednesday.

The Gilla fire has been burning since September 26 and has resulted in several SMOKE warnings being issued to local residents.

It is part of a complex of fires burning in the Mount Binga Road area south of Blackbutt, one of which prompted a PREPARE TO LEAVE warning on Tuesday for Mt Binga residents.

Eighteen fire crews were in attendance at 4:30pm on Wednesday at a large fire burning near Kooralgin-Mount Binga Road and McDougalls Road.

Separate fires were burning near Cooyar-Mount Binga Road at Mt Binga, and Spelling Gully Road and Dyer Road at Googa Creek.

A QFD spokesperson said 800ha had been burnt in the Gilla fire so far.

Waterbombers – including helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft – have been supporting ground crews while the Specialist Intelligence Gathering helicopter has been mapping the fire.

The presence of fire-fighting aircraft is why the QFD has continued to emphasise that drones must not be flown around the fires as they interfere with air operations.

The spokesperson said that since the start of October, more than 60,000 hectares have been burnt across Queensland.
