A series of “planned maintenance” power outages over the past few weeks in the Inverlaw and Taabinga areas are linked to a significant network upgrade occurring nearby.
An Ergon Energy spokesperson said there was “a major customer connection” under way which required a significant upgrade to the network to meet the standards required for the increased demand on the line.
“It has required the re-stringing of about 3km of powerline, upgrading of 13 power poles and installation of other network equipment,” the spokesperson said.
“This work is planned to be completed tomorrow (October 1).
“While Ergon Energy appreciates that any interruption is frustrating, planned maintenance reduces the risk of unplanned outages which can impact the community for a lot longer.”
The spokesperson reminded residents that as well as receiving alerts about planned outages in the mail, they can also sign up for free SMS / email outage notification service.
“Customers can register for this any time at www.ergon.com.au/selfservice.
“Customers can also check for planned outages up to five days in advance on the Ergon Energy Network outage finder.”
