The State Government will spend more than $48 million on maintenance at the Pumped Hydro Power Station at Wivenhoe Dam over the next two years.

The investment will ensure each of Wivenhoe’s 285MW turbines will be overhauled to maintain the station’s reliability and efficiency.

The Wivenhoe power station generated more than 218GW hours in the fourth quarter last year – the highest quarterly output in its 40-year history.

CleanCo CEO Tom Metcalfe said the works would begin in May next year.

The State Government plans to hand down its five-year Energy Roadmap for Queensland on October 10.
