Police have charged 12 people, including members of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, with 40 drug, weapon and traffic offences following raids in the Nanango area at the weekend.
Operation Xray Ember was conducted between September 19-21.
Police searched three properties, allegedly seizing four firearms and ammunition; cannabis, methylamphetamine, restricted medications, drug utensils, knuckle dusters and a sling shot.
- A 31-year-old Brooklands man has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of possessing explosives (ammunition).
- A 53-year-old Sandy Ridges man has been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possessing dangerous drug and one count of authority to possess explosives (ammunition).
- A 55-year-old Sandy Ridges man has been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of authority to possess explosives (ammunition) and possessing a restricted item.
All three men are due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 31.
Police also conducted 91 roadside breath tests, resulting in one person being charged with drink-driving; 27 roadside drug tests resulting in eight people allegedly returning a positive result; and issued 19 traffic infringement notices.
Operation Xray Ember involved officers from Kingaroy and Nanango police stations, Kingaroy CIB, South West District Tactical Crime Squad, Taskforce Maxima and Organised Crime Gangs Group Highway Patrol.
Darling Downs District Officer Superintendent Doug McDonald said the operation was part of ongoing disruption and enforcement actions being held across the district to deter criminal activity.
“Illegal firearms and illicit drugs have no place in our community, and we will continue to target offenders and do everything we can to keep the community safe,” Supt McDonald said.
“We urge anyone who has information about these types of offences to contact police.”
