Blackbutt’s annual celebration of everything avocado last Saturday attracted a big crowd of visitors eager to have fun with the town’s famous fruit.

You could play golf with them, juggle them, roll them, toss them, test your strength lifting bags of them … and win cash prizes.

And, of course, you could also eat them!

There was an avo-eating competition as well as plenty of avocado-inspired offerings at the canteen and elsewhere throughout the festival grounds.

There were also trays of avocados for sale – direct from local farms – locally produced avocado oil, and lots of avocado souvenirs.

A highlight of the Blackbutt Avocado Festival every year is the parade, led by mascot Alvin the Avocado who hitched a ride in a cherry picker.
