The South Burnett Eagles U13s Girls triumphed in their Toowoomba Junior Rugby League Grand Final played on Saturday.
The result was in the balance near full-time, but the South Burnett girls held out a rampaging Toowoomba Valleys to record a narrow 16-14 win at Toowoomba Sportsground.
The Eagles girls went through the regular and finals rounds undefeated.
Eagles’ try scorers were Bailey Burton, Ruby Beil and Gertrude West-Sandow. Tiahnee Baker kicked two conversions.
Gertrude West-Sandow was named Player of the Final.
Later in the afternoon, the South Burnett Eagles Under 15s Boys took on the Dalby Devils in their Grand Final clash, also played at Toowoomba Sportsground.
The Eagles went through the regular season undefeated but lost by two points in the Major Semi-Final to Dalby, forcing them into a Preliminary Final game against Wattles which they won easily on September 6.
But Dalby had luck on their side again in the keenly contested Grand Final on Saturday, coming away winners 16-8 after leading 10-8 at half-time.
Eagles’ try scorers were Elijah Langton and Jed Ninness.
