Toowoomba Regional Council is inviting Yarraman and Cooyar residents to nominate community achievers who will be considered for 2026 Toowoomba Region Australia Day awards.
“Our local government area is fortunate to have hundreds of citizens who devote their time and expertise to running community organisations and events that contribute to all sectors across our Region,” Mayor Geoff McDonald said.
“Our community life is enriched by the efforts of the volunteers whose passion and enthusiasm keeps their respective groups running effectively.
“We all know someone who contributes countless hours of assistance and run facilities or events for the benefit of fellow residents. I encourage residents to nominate our true blue achievers.”
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year (for a person older than 26)
- Citizen of the Year – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- Young Citizen of the Year (for a nominee under 26)
- Cultural Award
- Senior Sports Award (older than 18 on January 26, 2026)
- Junior Sports Award (younger than 18 on January 26, 2026)
- Community Group of the Year
- Community Event of the Rear
