The South Burnett’s exciting annual festival of short plays is on again this weekend at the Nanango Cultural Centre!

The Nanango Theatre Company is hosting three days of short plays – a total of 15 different works – from Friday night to Sunday morning.

The fourth annual Heritage NananGO PLAYfest features plays presented by visiting theatre troupes as well as productions – including some debut performances – by local thespians.

Among the local actors who have been working hard ahead of the weekend are the youngsters from the South Burnett Performing Arts Academy.

The Academy, which is headed by Stephanie Wimpenny, was set up last year to create more opportunities for young people to express their creativity through music, dance and drama.

The participants practise twice a week, on Mondays at Blackbutt Memorial Hall and on Thursdays at the Nanango Theatre Company.

They have two short plays scheduled for the PLAYfest weekend – “CONsumed” and “Stone Soup” – both of which will  make their debut on Saturday morning.

Tickets for the Heritage NananGO PLAYfest can be booked online

Cost is $10 per person per session or a three-day pass for $40  ($100 for a family pass).

A bar and catering will be open all weekend, and a three-course dinner will be available on Saturday night for $30.
